To every person that has worked with us since 2021, we thank you.

You answered our call to work on this remote cattle station

But you don’t yet fully understand the isolation

As you head down a road that seems to never end

A message - you can’t even send

'Hi mother I am still driving

I don’t know when I’ll be arriving'

You see the Birrindudu Station sign

And you sigh, relief the end of the line

But it’s 70k’s further yet

You continue into the sunset

Relief and apprehension as you approach the front gates

Little do you know your about to meet your mates

You spend the first few weeks adjusting to the heat

You’ve never bloody eaten so much red meat

Your day starts early and finishes late

Happy to pile dinner on your plate

Some nights you’ve never felt so tired

But some days you’ve never felt so wired

Your job is strenuous and tough

The Brahmans some days treat you rough

Your eyes often sting with dust

And it’s for water that you lust

But you rinse your dusty throat with a cold beer

Shoot some pool and laugh about a rogue steer

You recall the events of the day

Taking in the sunset, feeding out hay

Some mornings you saddle your horse under the stars

Breath misting, using the headlights of the cars

That desert wind is picking up

Your mighty glad for the coffee in your cup

Jackets zipped and hats pushed down

You light a fire and wander what the folks do in town

You hear the chopper as daylight breaks

You kick a sleepy mate awake

Palpable is the anticipation in the group

Two ways get turned up so no one’s out of the loop

Mustering is about to begin

The excitement prickles your skin

This is what you came across the country for

To experience what so many have before

Walking cattle upon a horse

Heading to the next water source

Some nights spent under an open sky

You’ll doze off with a gentle sigh

You’ll be up before the dawn

Pulling on boots well worn

You’ll learn to appreciate the Simple things in life

Cold beer, a good horse and a sharp knife

You’ll gain understanding In hard work and respect

You’ll even look upon life with a new aspect

It doesn’t matter how long you stay

Only what you take away

I hope as you head back out the dusty track

You give yourself a pat on the back

I hope you’ve got some memories to treasure

Knowing you all has been a pleasure

This here is my ode to the crew

We couldn’t have done it without you.

With Love to our crews past & present.
